Foundational Program
Cello, Flute, Guitar, Viola & Violin
The Foundational Program is meant for students beginning their learning journey on the instrument.
Tuition: $400
Each student will have 3 classes per day, which include:
- Master Class: Individualized instruction in a small group setting of 4 students. Choose one polished and memorized piece from the Suzuki repertoire to play at your first lesson. Review your known pieces. Parent/Guardian attendance is required.
- Repertoire Class: Large group class. Please visit our Repertoire List (below) for this year’s selection of required pieces.
- Dalcroze Class: Music movement
Electives:
Up to 2 Elective class(es) may be added for a fee, depending on the student age and maturity.
Intermediate Program
Books 4+ Flute & Guitar
Our Intermediate program is for students who have completed the early Suzuki books and are on their way to the advanced repertoire.
Tuition: $525
Each student will have 4 classes per day, which include:
- Master Class: individualized instruction in a small group setting of 3 students. Parent/Guardian attendance recommended.
- Repertoire Class: Large group class. Please visit our Repertoire List (below) for this year’s selection of required pieces.
- Technique Class: Group class that focuses on building skill and learning new techniques on the instrument.
- Dalcroze Class: Music movement
Electives:
Up to 2 elective classes may be added for a fee. Please remember to reserve daily practice time. Registration for 2 electives fills every hour in the FSI schedule. Students may choose their preferred elective class on the registration form when they register. If selecting Chamber Music as an elective, music will be available beginning April 15.
Advanced Program
The Advanced Program is designed for the advancing teenage musician who would like an intensive program with a combination of solo performance, chamber music experience, and musical enrichment in Composition and Piano Coaching.
The Advanced Program is open to Suzuki and traditionally trained students.
Tuition: $675
Core curriculum includes:
- Masterclass: Private lessons with a master teacher.
- Piano Coaching: Bring your piano scores for 2 pieces that you’ll rehearse with a collaborative pianist to prepare for performance.
- Repertoire Class: Assigned ensemble music will be sent for preparation prior to the institute.
- Performance Class: Art of Performing daily seminar for coaching and performance in the Davis Concert Hall
- Composition: Learn to arrange and harmonize popular melodies to perform with peers.
- Chamber Music: Coaching in small, mixed instrument ensembles. Music for Chamber Music will be available beginning April 15.
The advanced schedule is 5 hours daily, reserving one hour for practice or chamber music rehearsals.
Music for Repertoire Class and Chamber Music will be available beginning April 15.
All FSI students also participate in the following:
- Opening Play-In on Tuesday
- Performance in our gala Final Concert on Sunday
- Daily practice during their off hours.
- Attendance at various recitals – Faculty Recital, Student Recitals, and the Elective Recital
